Suggestion
The Hāna Business Council and EMR support the MPO application for the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant, and look forward to supporting the next phase of work towards getting the Hāna community sidewalks and pathways built for our community. Working with our school is a very important next step. We request that funding from this grant be considered to contract directly with East Maui entities to lead the community outreach and communications efforts, with secondary allocations to guide future engineering firms like PBR who was contracted fully for the Hāna Community Pathway Study.

As a representative of Hoʻomākaukau Maui Hikina (East Maui Ready - EMR) and the Executive Director of the Hāna Business Council, we strongly support the ongoing work to add and improve sidewalks in Hāna. This vital infrastructure improvement is essential for the safety and well-being of our keiki and ʻohana! Please note, that in discussions with Maui MPO and PBR, the community requested that this project NOT be called the "Hāna Greenway", although it was originally referenced this way.
